Don't put all your dreams into one basket
Don't put all your dreams into one basket
Scatter them so they don't get squished
One or two will survive to grow
Maybe come true; you never know
If you love someone with all your heart
All dreams die when it falls apart
So keep a few in your pocket
for when you get love back
Your extra dreams will be there
Sustenance for a snack.
I put all my dreams into one person
Thinking that it would last
When it came to fill in the spaces
I found my dream had passed.
Save a dream or two for when others die
There'll be something else you can do
Don't sit around and cry depressed
Live with a dream deferred, too
It's better than having none at best
There are seeds of hope in your life left
