Crocus do not worry
Crocus do not worry
Pushing through thawed ground
Peeking out through holes they make
Covered by frozen dew of dawn
Or downright burdened by late flurries
In frosty opposite of Indian summer
They endure to welcome tulips bloom
In a season of changing winds that crack
Two days forward, one day back
Changing wind rippling Brady's lake
Back and forth the ducks skim over
Following the warming sunlight potion
By any means it will arrive
And not disturb the squirrel nesting
Nor stop the light of life from rising
Shadeless trees of southern breeze
Dreams of summer's leafy tease
It will all make sense in the end
Though nature sometimes gets ahead of itself
It somehow straightens itself out
Without human interference
At the confluence of winter and spring
