Across the Beaver and Ohio rivers skate

 Across the Beaver and Ohio rivers skate 

To where America's Chinese puppy plays

Along Taichung Han River in January bike

Or to a dying New York City friend cry

On the brink after all he has lost

No smile in his darkened eyes

The river down my road has

Thin ice to skate away into

The heat comes on in spurts 

Till it is frozen no more 

Glancing back on paths ridden

Green paths covered in white

Joyful memories hidden

Till springtime comes back to life
