Sunny Days of Summer Coming
Could have
brought a bathing suit
Could have lit
a pipe
Could have kayaked
to and fro
And not just
rode a bike
Families accrue
to barbecue
Kids with
tubes jump in the lake
I wish I was
here with you
Doing what
we like
Things are
slow on Memorial Day
A morning at
Beaver’s parade
Dad’s hung
over so nothing grows
Resents my
garden, beg your pardon
I hear music
I grew up with
The language
taken for granted
Non gourmet
hamburgers and hot dogs
Square in
the circle I come standard
Sunny days
of summer coming
May as well
have a banjo strumming
Without a
lingering illusion
No guilt or persecution
