We are but fallen leaves of winter

We are but fallen leaves of winter

Scattered in the breeze

Without family of friends

Scattered hither and there

Random and irrelevant

With the chain of legacy broken

It's then we understand

We are threads in the fabric of man

Begun in rooted forests

From seeds of primal sources

Homeless in downtown streets

In need of food and shelter

I want to share my plan

To make it through the night

In sullen season of craving for

The breath wrapped bare branches

Detached for stretches and stretches

With the days shorter than nights

Add a ring to the trunk of time

Make a link to the future

If that is any solace to mankind

Fractured and forgotten

In a world without nutrition

Like leaves in the wind of ambition
