say goodbye to the wisp of wind

who will become a memory of fog

where did he come from, where will he go

how did they get so far, i don't know?

i thought they had each other's back

souls that recognized their hearts

more in tune with the melody of love

but they didn't come close to what they'd need

last rays of days together lengthen into shadows

though the sun burns bright in others' skies

one can't stop the clock or slow the tide

of a gentle heart wishing for a change of mind

when two lovers say it is over, it is over

when they both file, they'll know 

darkness brings other nights alone

but one lamp stays lit low; don't i know

the sun falls behind the western ridge

a chill in the air of a pilgrimage

who can bring back love's warmth?

keep two new entwined hearts satisfied

the canine companions' loyalty 

brightens her heart like our family 

as through turbulent seas she sails

know that we will always wag each other's tails  

say goodbye to the wisp passed through you

linen bedsheets will absorb rejected tears 

in no way waiting, not wasting away

new grooves wished for will arrive one day
