Decomposing Reminders

maple and the oak filling out nicely

hanging over the greasy green lake

thoughts of her stirring up

a once muddy lake of settled rain

clear enough to see bottom-feeders 

pecking beasties off slippery rocks

unaware of clinging gosling overhead

promenaded in between parents 

escorting their brood on tour

the next generation going forward 

a winter to endure no more

only decomposing reminders

making this year strong

defying what could not endure

as a gentle breeze massage memories 

while bobbers line the shore
