Pasting cupcake flowers

on green paper stems

with grandkids,

listen to stories of rainbows 

from storm clouds.

Can we recognize them before they fade?

feel the sunshine on gray days,

Walk, grandpa, with the stroller

on the corner hold his hand

to the next curb of adventure

Be the dream he continued

when your mom was very young

He has earned his place in the sun

Full circle for the fortunate one

He needs a baby hug

The one he thought he had finally found

Ten hours with grandchildren

 better than one hour home alone.
